NEW DELHI: In Assam's Barkhetri, BJP's Narayan Deka won the assembly elections against Congress's Diganta Barman with a margin of 28,844 votes.
Voting for all 126 constituencies took place on April 9, with turnout exceeding 85%—among the highest seen in recent years.
Importantly, the strong voter participation was evident not only in rural regions but also in urban areas, indicating widespread and energetic engagement from voters across the state.
Barkhetri is an assembly constituency in Assam's Nalbari district, part of the Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency. It spans rural areas with agrarian communities near the Brahmaputra river.
