NEW DELHI: Bangladesh air force chief Air Marshal S M Zia-ur-Rehman arrived here on a five-day visit during which he is likely to meet defence minister A K Antony besides the three services chiefs.
Air Marshal Rehman, a veteran of the 1971 liberation war, has come here at the invitation of Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major. The two countries are engaged in talks on enhancing military cooperation and addressing cross-border issues.
Air Marshal Rehman is accompanied by his wife Shameema Parveen.
During his stay, he will hold talks with his counterpart and call on defence minister A K Antony. He will also discuss issues of mutual concern and interest with Navy chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta and Army chief General Deepak Kapoor, an IAF spokesperson said.
Air Marshal Rehman had fought as a guerrilla in Dhaka area during his country's liberation war. He is an acclaimed fighter pilot and was commissioned in Bangladesh Air Force in 1976, five years after the war.
