Criticising the BJP for "politicizing" Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Monday said that Lord Ram does not belong to any political party, adding that Congress is also "devoted" to Lord Ram. "Sri Ramachandra should not be confined to any political party's agenda. We refute the narrative that we are against Sri Ramachandra. We are also devoted to Lord Ram," Siddaramaiah said after inaugurating a temple in Hirenralli dedicated to Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Laxman.

The history of the world is itself proof that many countries get strangled in their own history and such countries faced difficulties when they tried to solve their problems...but the way, our country untied the knots of history, is proof that our future is going to be more beautiful than our past," he said.

The PM said that the construction of the temple which was supposed to 'set off a firestorm' is a symbol of peace, patience, harmony and integration of the country.

"There was also a time when some people used to say 'Ram Mandir bana toh aag lag jaegi' (the construction of the temple will set off a firestorm). Such people could not understand the purity of India's social spirit. The construction of this temple of Ram Lalla is also a symbol of peace, patience, mutual harmony and coordination of the Indian society. We are seeing that this construction is not giving birth to any fire, but to energy," he added.

The PM also said that Ayodhya's temple is a temple of national consciousness in the form of Ram.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday termed the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya as a "turning point" and "reawakening of national consciousness".

Several programmes were held in various parts of the state on the occasion of the 'Pran Pratishtha' of the idol of Ram Lalla -- the childhood form of Lord Ram -- at the Ayodhya temple.

Sarma viewed the consecration ceremony at the Harijan Colony in the city, while special prayers were organised in various places and people burst crackers as the event streamed live on various platforms.

"The return of Dashrathnandan Ram to His Bhavya Mandir marks a turning point in our civilisation and a reawakening of national consciousness," Sarma wrote on X.

He said the events being organised during the day will inspire "more than a thousand future generations to uphold Sanatan Dharma to its fullest glory".

"As Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji leads the nation to restore a vital dharmic and sanskritik link, I am eternally grateful to Prabhu Shri Ram for allowing me to exist in this particular time of history, a Swarnim Yug," the CM added.

The state government had earlier declared a half-day holiday in the state, with government offices and institutions to open from 2 pm on Monday.

Government schools, colleges and universities remained closed for the day, while private educational institutions had also been urged to declare a holiday.

Sarma, at a press conference on Sunday, had urged people of all faiths to hold special prayers on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration to promote harmony.

A 'dry day' has also been declared on Monday, and shops selling non-vegetarian food items will remain closed till 4 pm, he said.

He also appealed to people across the state to light lamps outside their homes, shops and business establishments as well as visit 'namghars' (community prayer halls) on Monday evening.

A massive rangoli of Lord Ram was inaugurated by Union Tribal Affairs and Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda on the premises of Sri Laxmi Narayan Temple at Cable Town in Golmuri here on Monday, officials said. Independent MLA and former Jharkhand minister Saryu Roy was also present on the occasion.

The rangoli measuring 18,500sqft was formally inaugurated today, coinciding with the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, Roy said.

Artist Vivek Mishra took nearly two weeks to make the rangoli, officials said.

"Over three tons of colours were used to make 165-feet-long by 125-feet-wide rangoli," Roy added.

Earlier, Mishra had successfully made a 3,000sqft rangoli of Lord Ram at Andhra Bhakt Sri Ram Mandiram in Bistupur recently.

As soon as Mishra expressed his willingness to make the gigantic rangoli of Lord Ram, an area on the temple premises was levelled, said Roy, who was also the convenor of Sri Laxmi Narayan Temple Renovation Committee.

The rangoli has surpassed the previous 14,000sqft work-of-art set by Shikha Sharma of Indore, he said.

"We feel proud to inaugurate the massive rangoli of Lord Ram, coinciding with the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya," the former minister said.

Roy said a nine-feet-tall idol of Sri Laxmi Narayan was brought to the under-construction temple on Sunday and have been kept for installation later.

The construction of the temple's sanctum sanctorium will also begin from Monday and the idol is likely to be installed with all the rituals before Ramnavami, Roy said.

The magnificent Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir is constructed in traditional Nagara style. Its length (east-west) is 380 feet; width 250 feet and height is 161 feet; and is supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors. The pillars and walls of the temple showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses. In the main sanctum sanctorum at the ground floor, the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram (the idol of Shri Ramlalla) has been placed.

The main entrance to the Mandir is situated on the eastern side, which can be approached by ascending 32 stairs through the Singh Dwar. There are a total of five Mandaps (Halls) in the Mandir - Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap. Near the Mandir is a historic Well (Sita koop), dating back to the ancient era. In the southwestern part of the Mandir complex, at Kuber Tila, the ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been restored, along with the installation of a statue of Jatayu.

The foundation of the Mandir has been constructed with a 14-meter- thick layer of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), giving it the appearance of artificial rock. No iron is used anywhere in the Mandir. For protection against ground moisture, a 21-foot-high plinth has been constructed using granite. The Mandir complex has a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, water supply for fire safety and an independent power station. The Mandir has been constructed employing the country's traditional and indigenous technology.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday said that through the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the "soul of a civilization" has found expression once again in the world.

Its length (east-west) is 380 feet; width 250 feet and height is 161 feet; and is supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors. A grand procession, featuring a tableau depicting Lord Ram offering obeisance to Goddess Durga, was held here on Monday to celebrate the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya's Ram temple.

The procession started from Baikuntha Nath Temple near Ganesh Talkies and culminated at the over 80-year-old Ram Mandir (temple) on Chittaranjan Avenue in north Kolkata.

The procession with placards and flags having images of Lord Ram was led by Leader of Opposition in West Bengal assembly Suvendu Adhikari and other BJP leaders including Rahul Sinha.

Chou performers and a large number of women draped in yellow and red saris added colour to the procession.

Earlier Himachal Pradesh became the lone Congress ruled state to declare a half day for all state government workers.

The Congress turned down the invitation to the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony, calling it a 'BJP/RSS event".

Senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had declined' the invitation for the grand event in Ayodhya.

"Lord Ram is worshipped by millions in our country. Religion is a personal matter. But the RSS and BJP have long made a political project of the temple in Ayodhya. The inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has obviously been brought forward for electoral gain. While abiding by the 2019 Supreme Court judgement and honouring the sentiments of millions who revere Lord Ram, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have respectfully declined the invitation to what is clearly an RSS and BJP event," the Congress had said in a statement.

United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President Dennis Francis arrived in New Delhi on a five-day visit to India to advance India-UN ties.

The UNGA President was received at the airport by India's permanent representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj.

The UNGA President is visiting India from January 22-26 at the invitation of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.

Nobel Peace Laureate and activist Kailash Satyarthi arrived at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Pran Pratishtha Day on Monday and said that definitely it's a historic day.

"The world becomes free of violence and war - that is our responsibility...This is the message of Ayodhya...This is definitely a historic day..." said Kailash Satyarthi in Ayodhya.

"Lord Ram was Dasharatha's son, Kausalya's son, Sita's husband, and king of Ayodhya. He was a great man who reached the pinnacle of human ideal. When we worship him, the most important challenge is the challenge within us that we should live the ideals of compassion, justice and general brotherhood established by Lord Ram in our lives," said Kailash Satyarthi.

Earlier, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das on Monday said that with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, Ram Rajya will begin and all the inequalities will be over.

"From today, Ram Rajya will begin with Pran Pratishtha. All the inequalities will be over. Everyone will behave with love. From Ayodhya, the change will come to the entire country and it will be very beautiful. And everyone will live in harmony. We will live with goodwill. Lord Ram's blessing will fall on everyone," said Acharya Satyendra Das.

"Everything is happening very well. What Ram Bhakts wanted, is getting fulfilled today...As soon as Ram Lalla is seated...all difficulties will end..." added the priest.

The 'Pran Pratistha' of Ram Lalla is scheduled for Paush Shukla Kurma Dwadashi, Vikram Samvat 2080, which falls today, January 22.

The day will start with a morning puja followed by the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla in 'Mrigashira Nakshatra', which is expected to start around 12.30 pm and end at 1 pm.

The ceremony will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among other dignitaries.

Army helicopters will shower flowers on Ayodhya and 30 artists will play different Indian musical instruments at the temple premises at the time of Aarti at Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Pran Pratishtha day, according to temple authorities.

Temple authorities also say that all the guests will be given bells, which they will be ringing during the Aarti.

30 musicians will be performing will be playing their instruments in unison at some point in time, sources added.
