On the voting day for the final phase of UP elections on Monday, effects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hectic and spirited campaigning in his parliamentary constituency was quite evident. A direct contest was seen between BJP and Samajwadi Party alliances at City South, City North, Sevapuri, Rohaniya, Azgara (SC), and Shivpur while the Congress was posing a challenge to ruling party candidates at Pindra and Varanasi Cantt assembly seats.

Elections for 13 Rajya Sabha seats in 6 states to be held on March 31

Elections for 13 Rajya Sabha seats (MPs), which are going to be vacant in April, will be held on March 31 with the fate of five from Punjab depending on the outcome of the state assembly polls on March 10. Among the remaining eight seats, three are from Kerala, two are from Assam and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Tripura and Nagaland.

Akhilesh dismisses exit polls, says SP to form govt

Contrary to the exit polls predicting a comfortable victory for the ruling BJP in the 2022 Assembly polls, former CM Akhilesh Yadav on Monday claimed that Samajwadi Party and its alliance partners would form the government once the poll results are announced on March 10. The party is also learnt to have issued a detailed advisory and guidelines for party candidates and their representatives at counting centres for March 10 when the votes will be counted.

Three days ahead of the outcome of the Punjab legislative assembly, former chief minister and Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) president Captain Amarinder Singh met Union home minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi on Monday. Speaking to media later, Capt said he had “general discussion” on Punjab issues in the meeting, which went on for almost an hour.
