NEW DELHI: Zubair Anam Mazumder of the Indian National Congress won the Algapur-Katlicherra constituency with 1,45,661 votes, defeating Asom Gana Parishad candidate Zakir Hussain Laskar by a margin of 1,05,448 votes. Laskar secured 40,213 votes. Independent candidate Suzam Uddin Laskar finished third with 29,230 votes.

Algapur–Katlicherra assembly constituency in Assam is set for the 2026 election verdict, with counting of votes scheduled for Monday. The constituency went to polls on April 9 as part of the state's single-phase assembly elections.
In the 2021 assembly elections, the seat was won by the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). Candidate Nizamuddin Choudhury secured 66,785 votes, defeating BJP's Mun Swarnakar, who polled 49,181 votes. The margin of victory stood at 17,604 votes.
The Assam assembly elections are part of a wider electoral exercise across several states this year. Along with Assam, polling was held in Kerala and Puducherry on April 9, while Tamil Nadu voted on April 23. West Bengal went to polls in two phases on April 23 and April 29.
