Who is IPS Aditi Singh? Himachal SP whose duties were handed to a junior after 25-day leave

In Himachal Pradesh, an internal police order has drawn attention within administrative circles. The matter concerns the functioning of the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau and the officer currently heading one of its key units.At the centre of the development is Aditi Singh, an IPS officer posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Northern Range, Dharamshala. According to a report by DNA, she was transferred to this role on November 5 last year. Before this posting, she was serving as Additional Superintendent of Police in Dharamshala. The Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh, Ashok Tewari, has issued an order regarding her absence from headquarters. According to the written directive, whenever SP Aditi Singh is on leave or away from office for any reason, her duties and responsibilities will now be supervised by a subordinate officer until further orders.The DGP noted in the order that her absence was affecting the work of the office in the wrong way. Since the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau handles sensitive matters, the department has emphasized the need for uninterrupted functioning. The order has come into effect immediately. According to a DNA report, as per the directive, Additional Superintendent of Police Braham Dass Bhatia has been asked to supervise her responsibilities during her absence. He is an officer from the Himachal Pradesh Police Services (HPSS) and is junior to Singh in the official hierarchy. The situation was described in these words: “Aditi Singh has been on leave for 25 days between January 8 and February 22. ASP Braham Dass Bhatia is a Himachal Pradesh Police Services (HPSS) officer. In the hierarchy, he is junior to her,” a source told the Indian Express.Even after Singh resumes her duties, ASP Bhatia will continue to work closely with her to ensure smooth functioning and avoid any administrative disruption.According to a report by The Indian Express, the official communication details the leaves taken by SP Aditi Singh this year.From January 8 to January 11, she was on leave, which included two days of casual leave and two days of sick leave.On January 12, she availed one more day of casual leave.Between January 16 and January 19, she was again on leave for three days of casual leave and one day of sick leave.Later, from February 8 to February 22, she took 13 days of earned leave along with two days of sick leave.In addition to this, she attended a mid-career interaction programme for civil service officers from December 8 to 10, 2025, at the Dr. R. S. Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration in Nainital. This programme also kept her away from headquarters for over a week.The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau deals with corruption-related cases and internal vigilance matters. Any delay or disruption in its functioning can impact ongoing work.By assigning supervisory responsibility to ASP Braham Dass Bhatia during her absence, the department has made it clear that administrative work must continue without interruption.Thumb image: X
