After years of living in Germany, an Indian-German couple decided to pack up and move to India. Stability, comfort, and financial security were never the problem – the real reason, they say, was that life had become too predictable. They wanted challenges, fresh experiences, and space to grow, both personally and creatively. Their story, shared on Instagram, is now resonating with thousands online.
Life in Germany felt repetitive
In an Instagram post, Deepesh Patel explained that their daily routine in Germany had started to feel very similar.
“Life started running on autopilot,” the man, Deepesh Patel, wrote in an Instagram post, explaining that they craved a challenge and an opportunity to grow.
Not about cold weather or rules
The couple also clarified that their decision was not because of Germany’s cold weather or strict rules.
“We didn't leave Germany because of the cold weather or the strict bureaucracy (although, we admit, there were moments when those things tested our patience),” the caption of the post read.
Instead, they said the main reason was that life had become too comfortable.
“Ironically, we left because life had become too comfortable.
Germany gave us financial stability, social security, and a sense of ease. But over time, our lives started running on autopilot. Days felt repetitive, and it seemed like we were moving in circles.”
The couple said that they wanted more than routine and comfort.
“At some point, we realized we wanted more than the routine and comfort we had built,” the caption read.
Why India felt right
According to the couple, India offered the right environment for a fresh start. The country’s culture, traditions, and lively way of life gave them space to think differently, be creative, and grow personally.
“We felt that India was the right place for that. In its chaos, deep traditions, and vibrant culture, there is space for new perspectives, creativity, and personal transformation,” the post read.
Social media reacts
One user wrote, “You will not regret your decision. I moved back from the US to Bangalore about two decades ago, and I love it. I like the noise, the traffic, the colours, the people, the festivities… everything that Bangalore offers. Absolutely no regrets.”
Another user commented, “Great choice! Good luck!”
