The makers of ‘Vishwambhara’ have finally addressed the long delay surrounding the much-awaited Chiranjeevi starrer. While the megastar recently scored a major success with the family entertainer ‘Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu’, fans have been waiting for updates on ‘Vishwambhara’, a film that went on floors much earlier but is still awaiting a release date. The holdup stems mainly from the film’s VFX-heavy design, with the team taking extra time to redo important scenes after viewers reacted poorly to the early visuals.
Vishwambhara delay explained by UV Creations
At the trailer launch event of ‘Couple Friendly’, Ajay Kumar from UV Creations spoke openly about the reasons behind the slowdown. According to him, the initial teaser did not land well with viewers. He said, “You all saw the CG in the first teaser. The VFX part received a bad response from the audience. Because of its effect, the second teaser had solid VFX.”
Ajay Kumar stressed that the scale of the film demanded extra time and care. “Vishwambhara is a big film and hence it takes time for CGI. The official release date will be announced by Vamsi garu,” he added. The update was reported by regional media covering the event and later picked up by trade circles.
Vishwambhara cast, scale, and production details
‘Vishwambhara’, which translates to ‘The Universe’, is a Telugu-language fantasy action film written and directed by Mallidi Vassishta and produced by UV Creations. The film stars Chiranjeevi in the lead, alongside Trisha Krishnan, Kunal Kapoor, and Ashika Ranganath. Trisha plays the female lead, while Kunal Kapoor appears as the antagonist. Music is composed by M. M. Keeravani.
The project was announced on 22 August 2023 under the tentative title ‘Mega 156’ to mark Chiranjeevi’s 156th film. A muhurat pooja was held in October 2023 in Hyderabad. The film involves massive production work, with thirteen elaborate sets built at Annapurna Studios and nearly 70 percent of the film designed to feature visual effects to highlight spiritual and fantasy elements.
The director later revealed that the film includes nearly 5,000 VFX shots, which has been a major factor behind the delay. Filming has taken place across Hyderabad, Maredumilli, Nalgonda, Ramoji Film City, and Vellore. One action sequence reportedly took twenty-six days to complete, making it the longest stunt schedule of Chiranjeevi’s career.
With dubbing underway and music already rolling out, the makers have reiterated that quality remains the priority. The release date, however, is still under wraps.
