Telugu filmmakers Naga Vamsi speaks on ‘War 2’ losses; says makers helped him big time
Filmmaker Nag Vamsi revealed his significant losses from distributing 'War 2' in Telugu states, amounting to Rs 68 crores for the rights. Despite the film's box office underperformance, Yash Raj Films reimbursed Rs 18 crores, reducing Vamsi's total loss to an estimated Rs 10-15 crores, a figure much lower than reported.
Jr NTR made his Bollywood debut with Hrithik Roshan’s spy action thriller sequel, ‘War 2’ directed by Ayaan Mukerji. The film was released with much hype and anticipation, as it was marketed as one of the biggest pan-India, however, upon its release, it did not do well at the box office, especially due to its high budget. Filmmaker Naga Vamsi, who distributed the film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, was said to have lost a big sum due to the film’s poor reception. Recently, the filmmaker spoke about the finances of it.

According to a report by Gulte, Nag Vamsi recently shared that he bought the Telugu rights of ‘War 2’ for Rs 68 crores. This cost did not include GST. He said that Yash Raj Films paid the GST before the release.‘War 2’ made around Rs 35 to 40 crores share in AP and Telangana. Because of this low number, the movie had losses. But Naga Vamsi said that the makers helped him. They gave him back Rs 18 crores after the movie came out. He said this was already planned before. The makers promised him that they will help if the movie does not do well.

Received a refund from the makers

After the refund, his loss became small. He said that the total loss is only around Rs 10 to 15 crores. He said many numbers in the news were not true. People said very big losses, but that is wrong.
The ‘Kingdom’ producer also mentioned that the makers did everything they promised. He said they are good and they helped him during a hard time. Even when the movie did not work, they stood with him.

The Telugu filmmaker also shared his take on how Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Kingdom’ also turned out to be an underwhelming release. As per 123Telugu, as mentioned, his uncle Chinna Babu spoke with the director Gowtham Tinnanuri for three months regarding the second half of the film. However, he wanted to break stereotypes with ‘Kingdom’.
