Priyanka Chopra asked SS Rajamouli for a dance song in ‘Varanasi’: Calls the film ‘unlike anything I’ve ever done’

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is set to make her mark again in the Indian cinema as the Global Icon is a part of the upcoming SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’. The actress recently shared that she had made a demand with the ‘Baahubali’ director before signing the film, expressing her long-awaited opportunity to dance.

During a conversation with Variety, Priyanka Chopra Jonas spoke about the film and her experience. She said, “This is unlike anything I’ve ever done. We travel from like Antarctica to … And just the worlds that he creates are so larger than life, and nobody has the vision that he does. So even I’m excited to see more.”

A massive teaser and huge budget

A conceptual teaser of the film was released in November 2025 at Ramoji Film City. The teaser showed that the story moves across many places and times. It showed Antarctica, Varanasi, Kenya, 512 CE, 2027 CE, and even the Threthayuga. The scale of the film looks very big with a reported budget of Rs 1300 crore.

Priyanka Chopra’s desire to dance

The ‘Sky Is Pink’ actress also shared something fun. She told Rajamouli before signing the film, “Listen, I’m coming back to Indian movies. I have to do a dance song. Like you have to make me dance.”



She added, “I know I’m gonna be doing it, but we haven’t shot it yet. OK, that’s one of the last things, which I’m really looking forward to. But we already did one where the choreography was crazy. It’s so intricate.”

In the film, Priyanka Chopra plays Mandakini, Mahesh Babu plays Rudhra and Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the villain Kumbha. The music is by MM Keeravani. It is set to hit the big screens on April 7, 2026.
