Vijay Deverakonda was last seen in the 2025 spy action thriller ‘Kingdom’ directed by ‘Jersey’ fame Gowtham Tinnanuri. Although the film was released with much hype and was expected to be one of the actor's biggest films, it unfortunately turned out to receive yet another underwhelming box office performance. After its release, the movie has been in reports of whether the second instalment of it will be made. Recently, the makers have shed light on it.
‘Kingdom 2’ shelved?
As per Lets Cinema, Naga Vamsi, who bankrolled the film, has confirmed that the second part of the franchise, ‘Kingdom 2’ has been shelved. Initially, ‘Kingdom’ was said to be a high-budget franchise that would have included two parts. However, the underwhelming reception the film received during its theatrical release made speculations that the film would be shelved and now it seems that the ‘Kingdom’ saga will no longer continue.
Expectations with ‘Kingdom’ release
The film had huge expectations upon its release as it was directed by ‘Jersey’ fame Gowtham Tinnanuri, which included one of the biggest Telugu stars Vijay Deverakonda and was made on grand fashion. However, at the box office, the movie only made over Rs 82.05 crore worldwide according to Sacnilk. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 130 crore menaing it could not even recover its making cost through its theatrical run.
The movie starred Satyadev Kancharana and Bhagyashri Borse in key roles and is currently streaming on Netflix in multiple languages.
Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming work
Speaking of Vijay Deverakonda’s work front, he will be next seen in the action thriller, ‘Rowdy Janardhana’, starring alongside Keerthy Suresh and directed by Ravi Kiran Kola. He is seen in a raw, rugged and bloody look in the teaser released.
Additionally, he will be seen in ‘VD14’ directed by Rahul Sankrityan.
