Sirai fame Akshay to headline Basil Joseph’s first full-fledged Tamil film

After a brief cameo in Parasakthi , Malayalam actor-filmmaker Basil Joseph is set to play his first full-length acting role in Tamil cinema with the comedy entertainer Raawadi. The film will also star Sirai fame LK Akshay Kumar as a lead.Directed by debutant Vignesh Vadivel, Raawadi revolves around four college friends in Coimbatore, played by Akshay Kumar, Jaffer Sadiq, Nobel James and Arunachaleswaran PA. According to the director, the quartet have been “thick friends since childhood and aspire to be like Suriya in Sillunu Oru Kaadhal ”. He adds, “The four boys and Basil sir are heroes and have equal screen presence. All of them understood that and are performing accordingly without an ounce of ego.” Vignesh says Basil Joseph was his first and only choice for the role. “There are both serious and comedic shades to his role,” he says. Interestingly, it was through Anishma Anilkumar, who acted in Sirai with Akshay and with Basil in Maranamass , that the team got in touch with the actor-filmmaker.The director also reveals that Basil will dub for himself in Tamil.Vignesh, who has worked as an associate director on Fight Club and Hi, calls Akshay “extremely dedicated”. “Akshay committed to this film before starting Sirai . His role in this film will be completely in contrast to the one he played in that film.”
