7 Indian musicians who were assassinated at the peak of their careers for absurd reasons
Every artist of any form has the right to express his views and opinions in his own right and has the freedom to live in this country. That is also one of our fundamental rights given by our constitution. However, sometimes it costs one’s life for being a public figure and his behaviour in a certain way which could be personal or professional. Though this is a very unfortunate incident to happen, it happened in various instances across the globe and so is in India. Yesterday Sidhu Moose Wala’s assassination by a few unidentified assailants has taken the whole country to shock. Below are a few other musicians & singers who were killed for a few absurd reasons.

Amar Singh Chamkila
This singer, songwriter and musician who also happens to be from Punjab has reportedly contributed enough to Punjabi music. However, he was assassinated along with his wife and friends on 8th March 1988 and the case remains unresolved even today.
Chamkila is said to be one of the best stage performers that Punjab has ever seen and was reportedly very popular among village audiences. However, he was gunned down as he exited his vehicle around 2 pm by a gang of motorcyclists with several rounds of gunfire.

Haryanvi singer Sangeeta
Haryanvi Singer Sangeetha was allegedly killed by overdosage of Sleeping pills by her friends in addition to strangulation by the accused named Ravi and Anil on May 11th. They took the extreme step due to a strained relationship with the singer. They also had reportedly buried her Body in the Meham area, which was later revealed in the Investigation.

Rajasthani Folk Singer Amad Khan (his family)
Yet another folk singer from Rajasthan was reportedly killed for a Sub-standard Performance in Jaisalmer in October 2017. The 40-year-old Muslim folk singer was allegedly lynched by Rajasthani Danta village members for his sub-standard performance in Jaisalmer after a minor tiff over his performance.

Harshita Dahiya's death
On November 02nd, 2017. Harshita's brother in law along with his henchmen has ended her life by gunning down her with over 7 rounds of bullets due to the family feud.

‘Bhajan singer’ Ajay Pathak
In the year 2020, a Bhajan singer named Ajay Pathak was reportedly murdered and fired lockin them in his car along with his wife, 18-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son in Shamli, Haryana due to a financial feud over the financial debt of Rs sixty thousand.

Music baron Gulshan Kumar’s death
In the year 1997, Gulshan Kumar was reportedly shot dead over 16 times outside the Jeeteshwar Mahadev Mandi, Andheri West Suburb of Mumbai. Before the heart-wrenching incident, he was threatened to pay the extortion money. Alleged criminals Abdul Rashid and Rauf conducted a reconnaissance for a month before carrying out the above assassination.

Sidhu Moose Wala's Assination
28-year-old Rapper, Singer, actor and Politician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in his car on 29 May 2022 in Jawaharke Village of Mansa District by a few unidentified assailants due to his gang rivalry. At the time of the incident, Moose Wala was travelling in his private car accompanied by his private security guards instead of travelling in the state government's bulletproof vehicle and the police commandos.
