Prithviraj Sukumaran reveals nobody knew him while doing Mani Ratnam's 'Raavanan': 'Everyone knew Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chiyaan Vikram'

Prithviraj Sukumaran has been receiving a lot of honest reviews and praise for his performance in ‘Aadujeevitham -The Goat Life’ directed by Blessy. The actor has shared his experience working with Mani Ratnam, Vikram, Aishwarya Bachchan, and more in the 2010 Tamil epic drama ‘Raavanan’. The Hindi version of the movie was also shot simultaneously, and the actor recollects that nobody recognized him on the sets of the movie.

In an interview with Mashable, Prithvi said that the film was a big certificate of approval for him. The actor remembers that he was just 24 or 25 when Mani Ratnam offered him ‘Raavanan’, and he played one of the central protagonists in the film.


He recollected one of the days from the location of the film where most of the crew members were from Hindi as it was shot in two languages. All of them are familiar with Aishwarya Rai, as they all know Abhishek Bachchan. They also knew about Chiyaan Vikram. The actor heard people whispering about him, 'who this new boy is, must be good because Mani sir has cast him...' etc.

The actor found it funny and he felt like a little lamb on the set. The project was a huge learning curve for him. It meant big for him when Mani Ratnam saw potential in him. Prithvi further added that Mani Ratnam called him to wish after watching ‘The Goat Life’. This gesture really moved the actor because he learned a lot as an actor and a filmmaker from working in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavanan'.
