A journalist-turned-filmmaker, Remesh S Makayiram, is now all set to release his latest film, Nalpathukalilepranayam (Love in 40’s) , which he describes as “a musical love story”. “The film portrays the poignant journey of three women in the male protagonist’s life– his mother, wife and lover. It interweaves the lives of a publisher and a writer, portrayed by Jerry John and Asha Vasudevan, alongside compelling performances by Sreedevi Unni, Kudassanad Kanakam, Mazha Ramesh and Merlyn,” shares the director, who is also the producer of the film.
While he has previously made a short film Sheelam: The Habit — Remesh says this is his “first commercial venture as a director”. “Until this one, my focus has been on academic oriented films. I have brought my extensive experience in journalism and writing to this project, which I hope will work in its favour,” he says and adds that the film has “six soulful songs” composed by Girish Narayanan.
“ Nalpathukalilepranayam , which has a runtime of two hours, explores emotional themes that everyone encounters at least once in their lifetime. The moral support of the lead actors Jerry and Asha were instrumental in the project getting made. Rather than an extensive marketing campaign, we are relying primarily on the appreciation from audiences and word-of-mouth publicity to help the film succeed at the box-office,” signs off the director.
