'Drishyam 3' is among the most eagerly awaited films in
Indian cinema. The original Drishyam became a landmark success and was later remade in several languages. The third installment is now set to release in theatres on May 21, 2026. Fans have been waiting to see what lies ahead for Georgekutty and his family after the dramatic events of the previous two films.
Jeethu Joseph explains the core theme
As reported by Reporter website, director Jeethu Joseph revealed that 'Drishyam 3' places greater emphasis on Georgekutty's emotional state and inner fear. Speaking during the trailer launch, he said audiences should not watch the film expecting only shocking twists and surprise moments.
According to the filmmaker, the emotional journey of the protagonist forms the heart of the story.
"In the third part of Drishyam, the focus is on Georgekutty's fear and emotions. This time, Georgekutty does not know whether someone is following him, and if so, who that person is. In the first two parts, Georgekutty had some idea about what he was facing. Here, he is searching in the dark. That is the most dangerous situation. I am not saying there are no surprise elements, but Drishyam 3 is not only about that. So, please do not come to the film expecting surprises beyond a certain point, or you may be disappointed," said Jeethu Joseph.
The newly released trailer hints at a different tone from the earlier films. Mohanlal returns in the lead role and appears to deliver another intense performance.
