Work is progressing across the Khadakwasla backwaters near Sangrun and Davaje villages. The MSRDC-led project aims to ease city traffic by creating a circular access-controlled highway around Pune.

The ring road will divert heavy and long-distance vehicles away from Pune’s core areas, helping reduce traffic pressure, improve travel flow, and make daily commuting smoother and faster.

The highway features eastern and western corridors forming a complete loop around Pune. It includes multi-lane roads designed for efficient movement of commercial and interstate traffic across the region.

Despite contract finalisation, progress remains behind schedule with delays in bridges and viaducts. Authorities have issued notices to contractors and are closely monitoring execution to improve work pace.

The ring road will connect Pune with key highways and upcoming projects, improving regional transport links, logistics efficiency, and providing smoother connectivity to surrounding cities and industrial routes.

Reduced congestion is expected to lower pollution levels in the city. The controlled access design will also improve road safety and reduce bottlenecks caused by heavy vehicular movement.

The project is expected to support planned urban expansion by easing road pressure, improving travel times, and ensuring better traffic distribution across Pune and its surrounding developing areas.
