I spent a major chunk of my studying years in a boarding school at the foothills of the Himalayas. I completed my high school there, and those have been few of the most memorable times of my life. It was after high school - once I went back home to Chandigarh that Roadies happened, after which things catapulted. MTV happened and somehow I was on my way to starting out a career.
I remember the place I spent most of my time would be the art room, whether it was a weekday after classes or during the weekend. It was like my own little island and I would be totally absorbed in my work.
What I miss the most would be the leisure we had - or at least the illusion that there's no hurry to get things done, no hurry to grow up and start earning and standing on our own two feet.
The most important thing I learnt was to always ask questions (laughs), which has worked out well for me. We were told, always ask if you have any doubts, if you don't quite understand or are still unsure about something. It was a very different learning experience as opposed to the 'just mug it all up' route. Also, that walking up and down mountains builds your calves like nothing else (laughs).
