Though it has been years since he first shared his plans, the production has yet to materialise. In a recent interaction, Aamir opened up about his plans to make the film while answering a fan question.

Aamir gives a major update on Mahabharat film

On Game Changers with Komal Nahta, Aamir was asked why no film is getting made on Mahabharat, even when a movie based on the epic Ramayana is already in the process. To this, Khan shared that he has been planning to make it happen for the last 25-30 years. Sharing a major update on the same, he said, "My work has already started from the inside."The superstar went on to share that the film will be a reality soon and called it his life's "most important" project. Khan didn't stop there, as he further shared that if everything goes well, he will start working on the movie this year.Giving another update on the same, Khan stated that the scripting process will begin in the next two months. He acknowledged the fact that it will be a "time-consuming process" but added, "Mahabharat is not a film; it is a yagna, so you have to be prepared for that."

Is Aamir Khan quitting films after a movie on Mahabharat?

Earlier on Raj Shamani's podcast, Aamir shared that he would call it a day after releasing his passion project 'Mahabharat'. In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, he shared that the movie will be made in several parts with different directors.
