Godinho reviews measures to improve public transport
Panaji: Transport minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday presided over the 253rd board of directors meeting of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) in Porvorim, alongside KTCL chairman Ulhas Tuenkar and other directors.During the meeting, the minister reviewed agenda points and engaged in discussions on measures to further enhance the public transport system in Goa, aiming to improve service delivery and infrastructure for commuters across the state.This month alone, the KTCL upgraded its fleet, with new buses and electric vehicles now operating on several routes across Goa, including those connecting Panaji, Marcel, Sanquelim, Harvalem, and Surla.Also, a new bus service was launched between Margao and Cutbona. In Vasco, the KTCL marked the replacement of existing diesel buses with Olectra electric vehicles, which now ply the Vasco KTCL bus stand to Margao KTCL bus stand route via the Cortalim junction. A new bus service was also launched from Keri beach to Panaji city, passing through Arambol, Korgaon, Palye, Pernem, Mapusa, and other localities.Additionally, KTCL restarted its existing bus service connecting Panaji with Porvorim, Mapusa, and various towns in Maharashtra. The service, which was revamped with new schedules, was recently inaugurated at the Panaji Kadamba Bus Terminus. KTCL also introduced a new long-distance bus service connecting Mapusa to Mangalore, Karnataka.
