Exclusive! Arjun Kapoor: There is no finish line till the day you die
Actor Arjun Kapoor, who owns one of the teams competing at the Indian Racing Festival, drew a fitting parallel between life, career, and the racetrack when we caught up with him at the event. Reflecting on his journey from films like Ishaqzaade, 2 States, and Ek Villain to his current ventures, Arjun told Mumbai Mirror, “Generally in life, it’s always important to know what you’re running towards and what you’re running for. There is no finish line till the day you literally die. The point is that you have to keep going and pace yourself. Sometimes you’ll have to speed up. Sometimes you feel the need to win. Sometimes there’s ambition fuelling inside you, and at times, it’s about sustainability or refocusing your energy.”
The actor added, “There are different phases in life, in your professional and personal space — where you speed up and slow down. It’s almost like a racetrack. Not every turn can be full speed ahead. You’ve got to be careful, plan and be prepared to improvise. That’s true for everyone, not only me. You can’t plan to go full speed when there are speed breakers ahead. And at the same time, when you have the opportunity to fly, that’s when you accelerate.”
Talking about being part of the league, he said, "The most exciting part to be part of a league is coming together and starting out from a foundation level. To be one of the founding members, to be able to learn, to grow, to nurture a sport that I think needs a lot of passion, it needs a lot of support and to be curious about racing because it's very easy to sit at home and watch it. As I've started being part, you learn the fine details and you understand how complex the sport is on ground. And it's definitely very aggressive sport."
