Dhurandhar: Naveen Kaushik aka Donga opens up about why Pakistanis are showering love on the film, saying, 'Humne Muslims ko gaali nahi di'
Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar' is showing no signs of stopping at the box office even in its third week since release. The movie is set against the backdrop of the Lyari Town of Karachi, Pakistan. The audiences from the neighboring country have also watched the movie, and actor Naveen Kaushik, who played Donga in the film, recently talked about why they are loving it.
He said, "Maine ek cheez notice kari hai ki wahan se jo comments aa rahe hain... unhone ye notice kiya hai ki film mein humne wahan ke logon ko gaali nahi di hai, humne unko criticise nahi kiya hai (I’ve noticed one thing—that the comments coming from there point out that in the film, we haven’t abused the people there, nor have we criticized them)."
The actor went on to add, "Humne Muslim community ko koi gaali nahi di hai. Koshish yahi rahi hai ki uss system mein jo corrupt log hain, ya jo agents hain jo poore mahaul ka misuse kiya aur aisi situations create kari jahan India pe attack ho rahe hain... humne unko highlight karne ki koshish kari hai (We haven’t abused or insulted the Muslim community. The effort has been to highlight the corrupt individuals within the system, or the agents who misused the entire environment and created situations where attacks on India were carried out)."
The actor further shared that these are some reasons why even the people of Pakistan have accepted it. He expressed, "Toh woh cheez wahan ke log bhi yahi recognise kar rahe hain ki, 'Haan, ye log humare desh ka bhi bhatta bitha rahe hain' (So even the people there are recognizing it, saying, ‘Yes, these are the people who are also ruining our country')."
The actor added that the people can relate to the fact that such people must be questioned. He said, "Isliye film ko dekh kar pyaar bhej rahe hain, which is nice (That is why the film has received so much love)."
