Today, the 66
th National Film Awards 2019 were announced in Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan and they were handed over by Vice President
Venkaiah Naidu. Bollywood actress Sonali Kulkarni and Divya Dutta hosted the prestigious awards. From
Akshay Kumar to
Vicky Kaushal, many Bollywood celebs won the award for their excellent performances.
Amongst everyone, even Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ film ‘Paani’ won Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation award.
The film was produced under Priyanka’s production house Purple Pebble Pictures. Though she was not here to receive the award, director Adinath Kothare received the award on the team’s behalf. Our ‘Desi Girl’ took to her Twitter account and expressed her happiness regarding the same. She wrote, “Such an honour to receive the prestigious #NationalFilmAwards for #Paani (Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation). I cannot believe I wasn’t there to receive this! Thank u @adinathkothare for making such a wonderful movie for us & receiving the award on our behalf...”
In another tweet, Priyanka wrote, “... Bravo @chopramadhu1 @Iamsidchopra and team @purplepebblepic @maheshkothare @KothareVision. So proud of each one of you. This was a passion project for us all, tackling a very important subject and I’m grateful for all the love and support we’ve received for it.”

Kishor Kadam and Rajit Kapoor etc. 'Paani' is Priyanka's second venture in Marathi industry after 'Ventilator'. Interestingly, 'Ventilator' won three National Awards - National Film Award for Best Direction, National Film Award for Best Editing, National Film Award for Best Audiography.
