Bad day adds up to $1 million

A frustrating workday took an unbelievable turn for Jonathan G, a cell phone representative in Alamosa, Colorado. During a break, he decided to try his luck with a lottery ticket – and by the end of the day, the man who once struggled with homelessness was $1,000,000 richer.

A risk that paid off

Jonathan said he had been having a rough day at work when he decided to try his luck. “I was having a tough sales day and it actually paid off,” he said as per a post by Colorado Lottery on Instagram. “My reaction was total disbelief.”
He usually sticks to $5 scratch tickets and the most he had ever won before was $20. But that day felt different. “Something in my head said, ‘Hey, why not try for that $20 one? What’s the worst that could happen?’” he recalled. Turns out, the answer was winning a million dollars.
A new chapter begins
Jonathan bought the winning $20 ‘200X Scratch’ ticket at a Walmart Supercenter in Alamosa. The win marks a huge turning point for him and his family after years of hardship that once saw him jobless and living in a shelter. Now, he has big plans for the future. “I definitely plan on giving my girlfriend and kids a life that I never thought was possible,” he said. “A little hope and perseverance and a gift of luck are going to give us a life we have been working very hard to have.”
