‘Little Women’ to ‘Birds of Prey’: Hollywood movies set to release in India on Friday

A new tide has turned in Hollywood that is seeing women taking the lead. After ending January on a high with a perfect mix of action, romance, inspiring and empowering stories, February has something exciting in-store. This week at the box office will see films like ‘Little Women’ and ‘Birds of Prey’ up for their releases. Joining the two will be the light-hearted romantic comedy ‘The Wedding Year’.

'Little Women'

With the Oscars just around the corner, there is no better time than now for the release of the Greta Gerwig directorial 'Little Women'. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh Eliza Scanlen, and Meryl Streep among others, the film that is up for six Academy Awards will soon be released in India this Friday, over a month after it released in the US.

‘Birds of Prey’

‘Joker’ who? Harley Quinn is taking over the town in the new film ‘Birds of Prey’. Said to be a twisted tale told by Harley herself, the film will see Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, putting a target on a young girl named Cass. This prompts Harley to team up with Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya and take Roman down.
In the film, Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn, alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress; Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary; Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya; Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz; and Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis. Newcomer Ella Jay Basco also stars as Cassandra “Cass” Cain in her feature film debut.
Directed by Cathy Yan, the film is based on characters from DC comics.

‘The Wedding Year’

In the lead up to Valentine’s week, the romantic comedy ‘The Wedding Year’ is gearing up for its release on Friday. The film follows Mara (Sarah Hyland), a carefree aspiring photographer whose relationship with an aspiring chef Jake (Tyler James Williams) is put to the test when they are invited to 7 weddings in the same year. So get ready to tag along with Mara and Jake as they embark on a year-long adventure that is bound to have plenty of laughs.
