Kumble celebrates thedismissal of Inzamam-ul Haq.
Zaheer Khan in particularlooked jaded and Anil Kumble despite being persistent could not make headway.Just when it seemed skipper Inzy and Hameed would drive their teamto safety, Anil Kumble''s perseverance was rewarded. The Pakistaniskipper (77) was declared caught at forward short leg by umpire Simon Taufelthough replays suggested that the ball might have missed the bat. But Kumble''sstrategy of unsettling Inzamam by bowling round the stumps worked in unsettlingPak skipper. There was more sorrow in store for Pakistan as theprolific Yasir Hameed missed on a richly deserved Test century. Batting on aflawless 91, Hameed was done in by a well-disguised reverse swinging deliveryfrom Irfan Pathan that left the batsman, took the edge of the bat and flew intowicketkeeper Parthiv Patel''s gloves. A rattled Pakistan went to teaat 252/4 with its chances of avoiding the follow-on looking bleak. The post tea session saw Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan waste the newball with some wayward bowling. Pathan got some movement but the line was allwrong with the ball pitching on the leg stump and moving further away.
But the out-of-from Yousuf Youhana continued to struggle. Playing ona laboured 35, Youhana was a bit unlucky to be given out caught behind with theball going down the leg side to Parthiv Patel. Replays showed that the ballmight have missed the bat but the bowler Zaheer Khan who was having a veryordinary match was not complaining!
