Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila on Monday launched a sharp attack on the YSRCP, accusing it of deliberately diverting attention from the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy by raising the issue of family assets.
Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada, Sharmila asserted that her statements in Visakhapatnam were focused solely on the Viveka murder case and not on property disputes, as alleged by some YSRCP leaders. "I spoke about the murder, but YSRCP leaders kept talking about assets. Assets are not my agenda, and I am not doing politics for them," she said.
Alleging that YSRCP leaders were repeatedly spreading false narratives to mislead the public, she claimed that the party has always believed in "turning lies into truth through repetition", while insisting that "facts would eventually prevail".
She further accused Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy of misleading the investigation into Vivekananda Reddy's death by promoting a "heart attack" theory. "The heart attack story is a fabrication. The same narrative was even attempted to be imposed on Sunitha (Viveka's daughter). YSRCP does not have the courage to answer questions on Viveka murder," she said.
Referring to a recent letter attributed to YS Vijayamma, Sharmila questioned why YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not respond directly. "If the letter is false, Vijayamma would have denied it. If it were untrue, they would have sent the media to get her clarification. Their silence shows the letter is genuine," she argued. She added that instead of addressing the contents of the letter, YSRCP leaders were making "baseless allegations" against her.
