State Information Commissioner Rehana Begum awarded PhD in Journalism
VIJAYAWADA: State Information Commissioner Rehana Begum was conferred with a Ph.D. in Journalism at the convocation ceremony of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam. The doctoral degree was presented by the Governor and Chancellor of the University, Abdul Nazeer. Rehana Begum completed her doctoral research on the topic “Coverage of International News in Telugu Newspapers” under the supervision of Prof BN Neelima. As part of her study, she analyzed more than one thousand samples of Telugu newspapers and examined several key dimensions relating to the representation of international news.

Her research provides an in-depth understanding of the extent to which Telugu newspapers incorporate a global perspective in their coverage.Research supervisor Prof Neelima stated that the study would significantly contribute to evaluating the international outlook of Telugu print media.While discharging her responsibilities as State Information Commissioner, Dr. Rehana Begum successfully completed her research work. In July last year, she delivered her viva voce presentation before the viva committee, faculty members, and research scholars at the University. Satisfied with her thesis and presentation, the committee recommended the award of the Ph.D. degree. At the convocation ceremony held on Saturday, several dignitaries and well-wishers congratulated Rehana Begum on her academic achievement.
