Naidu says health and education city will be set up in Amaravati
Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday told his cabinet colleagues that the health city and education city announced in the Union budget will be set up in Amaravati. Naidu said that the union govt agreed to his proposal to set up both projects in Amaravati and granted approval. Naidu also said that the centre agreed to release Rs 12,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Jal Jeevan Mission and noted that the project must be completed within three years.The Andhra Pradesh cabinet, which met on Feb 11, approved a series of proposals across irrigation, revenue, energy, housing, information technology, and municipal administration departments. The cabinet approved amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) Act, 1977, replacing the 2025 ordinance. The deadline for filing applications for regularisation of encroachments in Gajuwaka and unauthorised dwelling units on unobjectionable govt land was extended up to June 30, 2026.

Approval was given for a change of land purpose at Keesarapalli for Customs staff buildings, and alienation of govt land for a compressed bio-gas plant in Eluru district. The cabinet also cleared alienation of 1,500 acres in Nossam village of Nandyal district for a 250 MW solar project with a lease of Rs 31,000 per acre per year and a 5% escalation every 2 years.
In the ITE&C department, the govt approved the Andhra Pradesh AI Living Labs initiative, including the establishment of a Section 8 company and amendments to the MoU with NVIDIA. The Cabinet also cleared a disaster recovery centre for the AP State Data Centre at Tirupati under the BOOT model. It also permitted development of the Amaravati Marina through PPP mode with a 33-year lease structure.The unit cost for PMAY Gramin 2.0 was fixed at ₹2,39,000, including convergence and SHG loan components. The govt approved refinancing the Ramayapatnam Port Development Corporation loan through Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited and issuance of related guarantees and comfort letters.Among additional agenda items, 2 self-contained SIT notes on ghee adulteration were placed before the cabinet. Ratification was given to emergency irrigation works cleared earlier by the engineer-in-chief, and amendments to the AP Fire Services Act were approved, replacing the 2025 ordinance.
