Panaji: Goa police have filed a first information report (FIR) against Saish Parsekar, a police constable driver attached to the State Police Control Room (SPCR), over allegations of theft involving gold ornaments valued at Rs 8 lakh.
The incident relates to a road accident that occurred on Jan 25 near Rocky Garage, Anjuna, where 27-year-old Jaster Vincent Rodrigues, a resident of Quepem, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a coconut tree. Rodrigues sustained severe injuries and later died at the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa.

Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas said that during the investigation, the victim’s brother Jovy Rodrigues reported that Parsekar allegedly stole a gold bracelet, a gold kada, and a gold ring with a dollar-sign pattern from Jaster at the accident scene.
Following this complaint, the Anjuna police registered the FIR and initiated a detailed investigation.
Officials noted that the PCR vehicle was en route to handle another distress call when they came upon the accident scene and stayed to provide assistance.
