Major accident averted on Kailasagiri hilltop toy train
Visakhapatnam: A major accident was narrowly avoided on the toy train operating at Kailasagiri hilltop park, a popular tourist destination in Visakhapatnam. The train rolled backward after its brakes allegedly failed. At the time of the incident, there were about 100 tourists on board. Fortunately, no one was injured. The toy train at Kailasagiri carries visitors around the hill. While transporting tourists, the train allegedly lost its brakes near the station and began moving backward. However, as there was no slope or drop in that area, no accident occurred. After moving back a short distance, the train came to a stop on its own. As Kailasagiri attracts a large number of tourists, any mishap could have posed serious problems. Dec is the peak tourist season for Visakhapatnam, and there has been a sudden increase in tourist inflow over the past one to two weeks. In response to the incident, the VMRDA temporarily suspended the toy train services at Kailasagiri for maintenance work. "Services will resume as soon as the maintenance is completed. Visitors are requested to take note of this information," said metropolitan commissioner N Tej Bharath.
