Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Monday ordered a probe and lodged a police complaint after a resident of Guntur city received a Christian religious magazine along with TTD’s Sapthagiri magazine by post.
The devotee of Lord Venkateswara, who had subscribed to the Sapthagiri monthly magazine, was shocked when he received the July issue along with a copy of a Christian religious magazine, Sajeeva Suvartha.
The devotee lodged his protest on social media. Many netizens condemned the incident and sought a thorough probe, prompting the TTD to lodge a complaint with the police and order an investigation.
The temple body’s vigilance and security department has now asked the devotee to lodge a formal complaint. “The TTD has taken the incident seriously as this is an attempt to tarnish the image of the institution. We have filed a police complaint to dig deep into this conspiracy,” a senior official of the temple administration told TOI.
The TTD has a tie-up with the postal department, which takes care of packing as well as delivering its Sapthagiri monthly magazine to the doorsteps of devotees across the country.
