Tirupati: IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the NTR sports stadium, established at a cost of ₹10 crore, at Gollavanigunta near Tirupati on Wednesday. The flood-lit stadium has five practice pitches and courts for volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and ball badminton. The pavilion can accommodate 5,000 visitors. He later interacted with cricketer Mithali Raj, shuttler P V Sindhu, weightlifter Karanam Malleswari, athlete Yarraji Jyothi, badminton player Kidambi Srikanth, and visually challenged cricketers Ajay Kumar Reddy and P Karuna Kumari, and vowed to make Rayalaseema the "sports hub of south India". He also announced a ‘90-day action plan' to accord priority to creating sports infrastructure across the state.
