Farmers urge authorities to reinstate farm canals in Sobhanadripuram

Vijayawada: Farmers of Sobhanadripuram of Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district urged the district authorities to reinstate two farm canals that were filled up to lay a kaccha road by some people during the previous YSRCP governement. The two farm canals ensured water flow from Mangalakunta pond and Vatsavayakunta pond, providing irrigation water to several agricultural fields in the village.According to farmers K Venkateswara Rao and M Haria Babu of Sobhanadripuram, the farm canals were filled up by a few people belonging to the YSRCP during their previous regime. They alleged that despite lodging complaints with the revenue department, the officials concerned failed to take any action.The farmers said that due to the filling up of the two farm canals, water submerged their agricultural fields, causing significant crop losses over the last four years.
