Visakhapatnam: ASR district collector Dinesh Kumar announced that revolutionary changes are being introduced in the agricultural sector by making drone services accessible to farmers. He said that, through drones, farmers can spray fertilisers and pesticides evenly and quickly on their fields, which reduces wastage as the spray directly reaches the plants, saving farmers' time and ensuring transparency.
After unveiling a poster in his chamber alongside officials from the agriculture, horticulture, and related departments on Thursday, the collector said farmers can easily book these services via phone. Just like booking cabs, farmers can book drone services at their preferred time through a mobile app or call centre, which saves time and labour.

This technology significantly helps overcome the current labour shortage in agriculture. By completing tasks over large areas in a short time, it saves both time and effort for farmers. He noted that the use of drones not only reduces the cost of fertilizers and pesticides but also poses no health risks to those spraying. He encouraged all farmers to embrace this modern technology to achieve higher profits at lower costs.
