IIT-BHU introduces NDA framework

Varanasi: The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, implemented a mandatory Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) framework for individuals associated with research and project activities at the Institute. The decision aimed to strengthen the protection of the Institute's Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and prevent any potential infringement arising from unauthorised disclosure of confidential information.Prof Pradip Paik, associate dean (research and development) and in-charge, Intellectual Property Right cell, said that the approved NDA format will be executed by all research scholars, fellows, interns, and both short-term and long-term visitors as well as other staff.
" The mandatory NDA framework will not only protect the Institute's interests but also strengthen trust and transparency with industry partners and collaborating institutions," he said.The NDA framework is designed to safeguard intellectual property and patentable innovations, research outputs and technical know-how, confidential information and proprietary processes, institutional interests of IIT-BHU, and engagements involving international visitors and researchers.Director Prof Amit Patra said that the initiative aligns the Institute with national priorities on innovation-led growth and international best practices in intellectual property management. "This framework will enhance institutional credibility, attract high-quality collaborations, and ensure that the knowledge generated at IIT (BHU) translates into impactful technologies and societal benefits," said director Prof Amit Patra.
