Cong protests against inflation, paper leak
Gorakhpur: Congress workers on Monday staged a protest near Rani Lakshmi Bai Park at Town Hall in Gorakhpur against rising prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, as well as the alleged NEET paper leak and cancellation of exams.
Organised jointly by district and city units of the party on directions of UP Congress chief Ajay Rai, the protest saw party workers adopting an unusual method to highlight inflation by carrying a motorcycle on a rickshaw through the city.
District Congress committee president Rajesh Kumar Tiwari and metropolitan president led the demonstration and pulled the rickshaw carrying the bike to symbolically protest the soaring fuel prices. Tiwari alleged inflation had reached alarming levels under BJP govt and said youths were feeling insecure about their future. He claimed increasing prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders had made life difficult for common people, while incidents such as NEET paper leak reflected failure of govt in conducting fair
exams.
Congress workers also raised slogans against central govt and demanded measures to control inflation and ensure transparency in competitive examinations. Many party leaders and workers participated in the protest.
