CM opens Rs 14.3cr bridge, calls for public responsibility
Gorakhpur: Inaugurating a two-lane bridge built over a water body in Taramandal area here on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that citizens must also take the responsibility to protect public infrastructure and development works.
The 112-metre-long bridge, constructed at a cost of Rs 14.33 crore by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA), connects two parts of the Taramandal locality that were earlier separated by the water body.
Addressing a public gathering after inspecting the bridge, the CM said Gorakhpur has witnessed rapid transformation since 2017. “Before 2017, people associated Gorakhpur with insecurity, mafia and encephalitis. Investors avoided the city and youths had to struggle for jobs and even hide their identity outside. Today, the situation has completely changed,” the CM said.
The CM claimed that over 50,000 youths have received employment opportunities through industries established in GIDA. He also highlighted the city’s improved connectivity, AIIMS, the revived fertiliser plant and sugar mill, tourism projects around Ramgarh Tal, educational institutions, and other infrastructure developments.
Referring to Taramandal area, the CM said, “People once hesitated to settle there due to flooding and lack of facilities. Today, it has emerged as one of the city’s most developed and expensive residential areas. The bridge would further strengthen internal connectivity.”
He also directed officials to develop the water body on the lines of Ramgarh Tal with boating and recreational facilities for families and children. Yogi also interacted with labourers involved in the bridge construction.
On the occasion, MP Ravi Kishan praised the CM’s leadership, saying Gorakhpur has become a model of planned urban development.
