Dahod police crack Rs 1.46cr angadia loot case, 4 held
Vadodara: Dahod police have busted the gang involved in the Rs 1.46 crore robbery of an angadia firm employee that took place on May 27, arresting four accused and recovering cash and valuables worth Rs 1.35 crore on Saturday.
According to police, the gang had conducted a recce of the victim’s movements before targeting him. Investigators said the accused were traced within hours of the robbery.
“We have arrested four accused, while four others are still absconding. Some of them have multiple criminal cases registered against them,” a police official said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Atul Bhuriya, Parmeshwar Palash, Govind Mohaniya and Alpesh Panda. The remaining accused — Arjun Amaliya, Avichal Palash, Jignesh Hathila and Laxman Palash — are yet to be arrested.
Police said cash and valuables worth Rs 1.35 crore have been recovered from them. They added that Atul and Parmeshwar have previous cases of loot, dacoity, burglary and theft registered against them.
According to investigators, the robbery occurred on May 27 when an employee of an angadia firm was travelling along APMC Road carrying Rs 1.41 crore in cash and parcels worth Rs 5 lakh. The accused, riding two motorcycles, allegedly attacked the employee and snatched bags containing the cash and valuables before fleeing.
Following the incident, several teams, including personnel from the Local Crime Branch and Special Operations Group, launched an investigation. Police scanned CCTV footage from the area and obtained images of the accused escaping on motorcycles, which helped lead them to the suspects.
“We have arrested four accused, while four others are still absconding. Some of them have multiple criminal cases registered against them,” a police official said.
