Trichy: Two men were killed after a mini truck hit multiple vehicles near Samayapuram on the Chennai-Trichy national highway (NH) early on Sunday.
Police identified the deceased as S Rajkiran, 32, and S Jayapandi, 33, from Theni district.

The men were returning to Theni in a mini truck after unloading consignments of grapes near Panruti in Cuddalore district. While nearing the Uppar river bridge at Irungalur around 3.30am, Rajkiran, who was driving the vehicle, lost control over it. The vehicle entered the opposite lane of the NH and came to halt after ramming a govt bus and another mini truck coming from the opposite direction. Rajkiran and Jayapandi sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot, police said. Three others including the bus driver were injured.
Police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured, and cleared the accident site. Further investigations are underway.
