Rowdy held for murder bid on auto driver

Trichy: A 35-year-old historysheeter was arrested by Golden Rock police for attempting to murder an auto driver near Mela Kalkandarkottai on Saturday.Police said the incident occurred on Friday near Kambi Gate in Mela Kalkandarkottai when accused Sivakumar alias Mohamed Raffiq's wife hired the victim E Selvakumar's auto to go to the all-women police station in Ponmalai in connection with a family dispute.Later that night, the accused picked a quarrel with Selvakumar, 44, near the same spot, and allegedly abused him. Police said he assaulted the driver and attempted to stab him with a knife, besides issuing threats. Golden Rock police registered a case under 296 (b), 118 (1), 109, 308 (4) of BNS and arrested Sivakumar, who was later remanded in judicial custody.
