Trichy: K Ashok, 59, assumed charge as the executive director (ED) of the Bhel Trichy complex on Tuesday. He has taken over as the head of the complex that comprises the high-pressure boiler plant, seamless steel tube plant, power plant piping unit at Thirumayam, and an industrial valves plant at Goindwal, Punjab. Ashok succeeds S Prabhakar, who was superannuated. Ashok has 36 years of expertise across multiple domains in Bhel. Prior to this appointment, he served as ED of Bhel's Industrial Systems Group (ISG) in Bengaluru.
An alumnus of Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, where he graduated in electronics and communication engineering, Ashok began his journey with Bhel in 1990 as a graduate engineer trainee at ISG Bengaluru. Bhel Trichy, in a release, said that he played a pivotal role in erection, commissioning, and providing technical services for major power projects across Visakhapatnam, Rourkela, and Tuticorin. He also held key leadership positions across Bhel's ecosystem, including the corporate office in Noida and the boiler auxiliaries plant at Ranipet.
