Trichy: Leaders and workers of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) staged protests in Trichy on Tuesday, alleging a deterioration in the law-and-order situation under the DMK govt.
The demonstration was held in the Marakkadai area, led by leaders from the AIADMK and BJP. Among those who took part were former AIADMK ministers M Paranjothi, N R Sivapathi, Vellamandi N Natarajan and B Valarmathi, along with former MP P Kumar and BJP district president Ondimuthu.
Speakers accused the state government of failing to curb crime, including sexual offences, and alleged a breakdown in law and order. They held the DMK government responsible for what they described as rising insecurity in the state.
A large number of cadres and office-bearers from NDA parties, including the AIADMK, BJP, AMMK and PMK, participated in the protest, raising slogans against the state government.
Similar protests were held in Karur, led by former AIADMK minister M R Vijayabhaskar and BJP district president V V Senthilnathan. In Thanjavur, the protest was led by AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, who said the NDA parties remained united.
