TRICHY: Bharathidasan University has appointed a new research director in-charge after allegations that the previous research director had not constituted a research public verification committee for the past three months. University sources, however, denied that the change was a disciplinary action but because the term of the previous director had ended.
R Balasubramani, a professor in the department of library science, has been given additional charge, replacing Ramesh Babu who was earlier holding the post as in-charge.

Balasubramani, appointed by the VC committee, will serve in the post till Sept 10 next year or until the need for it ceases. An official said steps are being taken to reconstitute the verification committee comprising HODs and other experts in the next few weeks.
