Absconding man arrested after 7 years

Trichy: A 46-year-old man who was an accused in 37 cases in various police stations in Ariyalur and other districts but was absconding for seven years was secured by Ariyalur district police on Wednesday. R Sudhakar, 46, of Kovil Esanai in Ariyalur district, had cases including robbery and burglary charged against him. Though these cases were under trial in court, Sudhakar absconded about seven years ago. Ariyalur police constituted a special team to nab him, but he remained untraceable. Finally, a special team located Sudhakar in Ariyalur on Wednesday and arrested him. He was produced before a judicial magistrate and lodged in Trichy central prison.
