Two held with ganja; 7.5kg seized in separate case

T'puram: Sreekaryam police on Monday night arrested two youths from Pangappara for allegedly possessing ganja intended for sale. The accused were identified as Arun Das (25) and Alby (25), both natives of Venniyoor in Venganoor. Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a house in Thirunagar, Pangappara and recovered 0.468kg of cannabis from their possession. The duo was taken into custody and later produced before a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody.In a separate case on the same day, rural police arrested Prasanth (38) of Kuttichal Mannorkara, for allegedly transporting a large quantity of ganja from Andhra Pradesh. He was intercepted while travelling in a luxury car, and a search of the vehicle led to seizure of 7.5kg of cannabis concealed beneath the seats in sacks. Police said investigations are under way. Authorities are also examining possible links between the two cases. TNN
