SURAT: Police authorities have suspended two more policemen in Rajesh Patil suicide case. Head constable Abhesinh Bariya and constable Ajitsinh Zala were arrested on Wednesday night after they returned to the city from Rajasthan where they had gone an official assignment. Another accused in the case, suspended police sub inspector AB Padvi is in three-day police remand after his arrest a day earlier.

"We will seek a seven-day remand for Bariya and Zala. We are questioning Padvi in police remand and the interrogation of Bariya and Zala will throw more light in the case," says investigation officer N B Parmar, assistant commissioner of police, C division.
The accused police officials were arrested for taking bribe to release the youths detained along with Rajesh and Pratiksha Jadhav on August 17 from Keval Apartment in Navagam area of Limbayat police station. The students had got together at Rajesh's apartment to study. Investigation so far has revealed that the youths were studying when the police had raided the place. Charges of illegal detention and filing a fake case are also part of the complaint against the accused police officials.
The raid was carried out following calls from some unknown person. He had complained about "some illegal activities" taking place at Rajesh's apartment. Apart from Rajesh and Pratiksha, seven other youths were detained. However, the seven were released after the policemen had allegedly accepted bribe from them. The raiding team was headed by suspended PSI Padvi. Other members of the team were head constable Bariya, constable Zala and a woman head constable Shailaben Ganpatbhai.
The accused policemen and woman had earlier been transferred from Limbayat police station. Padvi was transferred as reader of deputy commissioner of police zone I while Bariya, Zala and Shailaben were shifted to police headquarters.
