Eight arrested with morphine worth Rs 8.12L in Navsari

Local crime branch (LCB) of Navsari police arrested eight people with 812 gram of morphine, a type of narcotic drug, worth Rs8.12 lakh from Kagvai village of Navsari district on Monday night. The accused were selling the drug and are a part of a distribution network.

Surat: Local crime branch (LCB) of Navsari police arrested eight people with 812 gram of morphine, a type of narcotic drug, worth Rs 8.12 lakh from Kagvai village of Navsari district on Monday night. The accused were selling the drug and are a part of a distribution network.
Police arrested Aadam Faruq Mayta, Yunush Hasan Saleji, Sajid Gulam Haider Malek, Anjal Hanif Shaikh, Mohammad Gulamhussain Malek, Chetan Bhikhu Patel, Rajesh Bhagu Patel and Mubarakali Riyazuddin Quadri.

They have been booked under Narcotic Drugs and. Psychotropic Substances Act. The accused are farmers and labourers except Sajid Malek, who is a clerk in Umargam court of Valsad. Further investigation in the case has been handed over to Chikhli police station.
The accused were nabbed when they gathered at Mubarakali Quadri's house to discuss distribution of the material. Rakesh alias Vijay of Mandvi in Surat and Kishore of Pardi in Valsad are on the run. Rakesh sourced the material and gave it to the arrested accused while Kishore helped them to find customers.
"The arrested accused are from various areas. They were supposed to distribute the drug in the area from where they came," said J N Panchal, inspector, LCB, Navsari.
The accused sold the material at different prices depending upon clients and used to provide doorstep delivery. Police also recovered a car worth Rs 5 lakh, three motorcycles worth Rs 1.20 lakh, Rs 12,265 cash and 11 mobile phones worth Rs 27,200 from the accused.
