Guv confers degrees upon Hamipur varsity students
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh governor Shiv Pratap Shukla gave away 259 degrees and 110 medals during the fifth convocation of the Himachal Pradesh Technical University in Hamirpur on Saturday.
A total of 59 students were conferred with gold medals, while 51 got the silver medals. Out of 110 medal recipients, 73 were women. Also, 162 women students and 97 men were awarded degrees during the convocation.
The governor, while congratulating the degree holders, said they needed to consider the circumstances under which they had obtained the degree. He appealed to the youth to think differently and take risks which would propel them towards prosperity.
Shukla said convocation was an important starting point in the lives of students and they should give back to society in some form what they had received from it.
He appealed to the degree holders to be good human beings first, and this belief they need to carry with them. The governor also urged the students to contribute in making Himachal Pradesh a drug-free state.
Prof Vinod Kumar Paul, member of the NITI Aayog, was the chief guest on the occasion.

KMCLU convocation today; 149 medals to be distributed
Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University (KMCLU) is set to confer degrees upon 1,431 students and award 149 medals during its ninth convocation ceremony on Monday. Mohammad Zabihullah and Shubham Kumar Singh secured the university's top two medals. The convocation will be graced by the presence of Prof. Shishir Sinha, Director General of CIPET, and Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education.
