House burgled near Salem
SALEM: Unidentified men stole 60 sovereigns of gold jewellery, Rs 65,000 in cash and a hard disk containing CCTV footage from a locked house at Uthamacholapuram in Salem district on Thursday.The house belongs to V Shanmugam, 65, who is a farmer. Shanmugam and his family members went to a temple at Attayampatti on Thursday afternoon and returned home around 4pm. "They found the door broken and valuables missing," said an officer at the Kondalampatti police station. On being alerted by Shanmugam, police reached the spot with a sniffer dog and forensic experts and began investigations. They registered a case.
